Our School Based Health Centers are ready to serve students, families, and community members

Our School-Based Health Centers are ready to serve students, families, and community members.

Our School-Based Health Centers have made a meaningful difference in the communities we serve by providing convenient, high-quality healthcare where students already are — at school. These centers have improved access to medical and behavioral healthcare while reducing barriers for families and supporting healthier school environments.

One of our greatest successes has been improving access to behavioral health services. We have been able to identify and support students who needed immediate care, providing timely interventions that may have prevented more serious or even tragic outcomes. Having behavioral health services available on campus allows students to receive care quickly, without the transportation, scheduling, or financial barriers that often delay treatment.

In addition to serving students, we have been able to open two of our School-Based Health Centers to the general public. This has provided an additional healthcare resource for teachers, school staff, and other members of the community, who have expressed how convenient and beneficial it is to receive quality care close to home or work.

Our clinics offer more than routine medical visits. We are able to perform laboratory services, blood testing, and point-of-care testing for illnesses such as COVID-19, influenza, and strep throat. This allows us to quickly diagnose illnesses and ensure that students and staff who are contagious can be sent home before returning to classrooms, helping reduce the spread of infectious diseases and keeping our schools and communities healthier.

We have also expanded our services by offering Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals for school bus drivers. This allows drivers to complete their required physicals without missing unnecessary work while helping ensure the continued safety of the children they transport each day.

Parents have expressed great appreciation for the convenience of having healthcare services available at their child’s school. They no longer have to take time away from work for many routine appointments, making it easier to ensure their children receive the care they need. Since opening our School-Based Health Centers, we have also seen an increase in annual wellness visits, demonstrating improved access to preventive care.

Overall, these centers are doing far more than providing medical services – they are improving health outcomes, supporting mental wellness, reducing barriers to care, preventing the spread of illness, and strengthening the partnership between healthcare, schools, and families. We are proud of the positive impact our School-Based Health Centers have had and are excited to continue expanding these services to benefit even more students, families, and community members.
