National Health Center Week may have been a week of celebration, but at Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center, we are reminded every day that we are part of something much bigger than a healthcare clinic.
On Thursday, August 6, Good Samaritan hosted a Stakeholder Appreciation Brunch during National Health Center Week to recognize the people and organizations who stand beside us in our mission to improve the health and well-being of our community.
Approximately 30 community leaders, elected officials, partners, board members, volunteers, and members of our leadership team joined us, including representatives from the Appalachian Judicial Circuit, Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Pickens County School District, Pickens County Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Primary Care Association, and State Representative Rick Jasperse.
Looking around the room, we were reminded just how many people and organizations have a hand in the work we do.
Our partnership with the Appalachian Judicial Circuit and its Accountability Court is one example of the power of these relationships. Through this partnership, Accountability Court participants can receive Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services through Good Samaritan. For individuals working to overcome substance use and rebuild their lives, access to compassionate, evidence-based treatment can be a turning point. Together, we are helping people move forward rather than simply asking them to move on.

Our partnership with the Pickens County School District allows us to bring healthcare directly to students through Dragon Care, our school-based health center at Pickens County Junior High School. By meeting young people where they are, we can help address health needs before they become barriers to learning, growing, and reaching their potential.
